Fastnet Fish

I was asked to spend a few days in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, to photograph the fish industry the town is best known for by Fastnet Fish as part of their corporate image rebrand. Fastnet Fish and its subsidiaries are engaged in the sourcing of frozen seafood worldwide for customers in the processing, wholesale and retail sectors. The shots show the process from the market to processing and then final product shots. We also grabbed a few location shots to show the general area. Thanks to Andy Howe for the commission.

Creative Outpost

Creative Outpost is a scalable VFX/Audio Studio offering all aspects of audio & post production, across all advertising mediums. They have three offices; London, Stockholm and Oslo, and I was invited to photograph their London site via Tinder Flint who designed their updated website. The space was recently restyled complete with a gorgeous ‘Mad Men’ theme, ‘The Shining’ carpet in reception, and a personal favourite Gregory Crewdson prints adorning the walls. A suitably cinematic space now with imagery to match.

Late Night Lycett / Channel 4

I was commissioned to photograph the first series of Joe Lycett’s Late Night Lycett for Channel 4 / Rumpus Media. The show was broadcast live from Birmingham on Friday nights and was a hectic, madcap hour reminiscent of 90’s TV. Joe and Rumpus Media were keen to provide as many of the crew as possible from the Birmingham area so I was thrilled when Carl Palmer, the senior photography commissioner at Channel 4, suggested me to them.
Live TV work as a stills photographer in a tight, temporary studio with multiple crew and audience was incredibly challenging to get around the space between segments; the rule is not get in the way but try not to miss anything, Obviously all the camera operators rightfully have the best positions with all angles covered. There were many roaming operators too so lots to keep me alert.

Imagery was managed between Channel 4 and Multitude Media with editing on the hoof during ad breaks and immediately after the show. I loved every second of it.

NSPCC Look Say Sing Play

I was commissioned via the lovely Mark and Anna Pizzey of ReelNice to shoot accompanying stills to a film they were making for the NSPCC and their ‘Look Say Sing Play’ campaign. We set off initially on a 5 day trip hitting all of the home nations: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland before completing 5 more to include parents of various languages and cultures.

NSPCC teamed up with Vroom to give parents some fun and easy tips to help bring even more Look, Say, Sing and Play into their daily routine with their baby or toddler.

Whether it’s bathtime, bedtime or washing up, playing with your child, using silly voices, or even singing can build their brain right from birth. It’s a great way to have fun while making your bond even stronger.

Vroom believes all parents want what’s best for their children. By providing science-based tips and tools to inspire families to turn shared, everyday moments into ‘Brain Building Moments’. A global program of the Bezos Family Foundation, it helps parents boost their child's learning during the time they already spend together.

Shakespeare North Playhouse / Not Too Tame

The heroic Not Too Tame invited me to create the poster image (with a real Donkey) and shoot rehearsal and production shots for their riotous production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream directed by Matthew Dunster and Jimmy Fairhurst. It was the first Shakespearean inspired production to be staged on the Cockpit Theatre at the incredible Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot, Merseyside.

I cannot stress this enough but I bloody love Jimmy Fairhurst, his NTT family and the tremendous work they do making theatre accessible to all; especially those who “don’t do theatre”. Always one of my favourite collaborations and the energy they bring is truly infectious. This particular production included deaf actor William Grint which required other cast members to learn sign language for the role. The action began for the audience before they were expecting, with cast and crew spilling into (and out) of the foyer before the start, adding an extra Inception layer to the play-within-a-play concept.

The production also featured the voice of BAFTA nominated actor David Morrissey as Oberon, and Mercury nominated singer-songwriter Nadine Shah making her theatre debut in the role of Titania. It picked up loads of top reviews and made good on its promise of a show that’s 'to be experienced, not just watched'. Their anarchic production of one of Shakespeare’s best loved plays was the first collaboration between Shakespeare North Playhouse, Not Too Tame and Northern Stage.
