Hi, I'm Patch, it's short for Patrick. Whilst visiting Ireland as a child, during a family holiday to trace our family roots in Galway, I came across a graveyard full of tombstones with 'Patrick Dolan' written on them; so I'm sticking with Patch!
I studied Art Foundation in Oxford - where I was born and grew up - then (BA) Graphic Arts and Design in Leeds before moving to London in 2005. I then spent seven years at the agency RPM as a full time in-house photographer working across a multitude of brands and specialisms building up many working relationships that continue to this day.
I released my first book in 2009 titled 'One Game' commissioned by The ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) as a behind the scenes study of cricket "From Grass Roots to the Test Arena". There was a supporting two week exhibition held in the Atrium at Westfield London in the build up to the Ashes series that year.
Some of my favourite photographers include Gregory Crewdson, Nadav Kander, Sebastião Salgado, Brent Stirton & Levon Biss. The latter two came through the RPM route so their incredibly high standard is what I aim to emulate with my work.
